HISTORY
Sundara was born during a turbulent time in his Father's kingdom. Due to the discord in factions and struggles to take the King's throne, many of Sundara's siblings were killed or prematurely destroyed. Finally, King Nilam had enough, when his 6th son was murdered in his sleep by one of his uncles assassins. King Nilam had Sundara born in secrecy, in his wing, where no one would see or know of the Queen or the young Prince until the Prince was much older. Sundara was guarded personally by King Nilam, for he was Nilam's treasure. Sundara was taught everything by his father, and had many of his his father's philosophies ingrained into him. Finally on the day that would have been his Crowning Day, he was revealed to the public. No one could mistake the color of Sundara's hair, nor the white stripes that looked so much like Nilam's. They could not believe Nilam had managed to keep his young away from public eye for so long, but could not deny it was his blood. What they didn't know was that Sundara was not a male at all, but a female in biology. Nilam trained and raised Sundara to believe he was male, so that he could convince the nobles he was the rightful heir. He was arranged to marry one of the noble's daughters, and began his life in the palace, mingling with the court. The court caught onto one of Sundara's defining traits quickly. His stubbornness. It was one that got Sundara into trouble, and often in dangerous disagreements with his peers and elders. It was the dissonance between the court's ideals and the echo of Nilam's principles that grated against the court most. Sundara didn't care about whispering politics or secret exchanges. He wanted justice, stability, and a world of peace. The tension grew between Sundara and the Court, up until King Nilam's death, when Sundara lost his shield and protection. Sundara was ejected from court based on his illegitimacy as King, despite his pure bloodline. In order to counter the debasement, he went on a journey to find the only other ancestry that could reestablish him within the public's eye. The Leons of Minervam. No one knew for sure whether the Leons truly existed, but there were enough evidence in history books of their existence. Usually one thought of Leons when speaking of Fauba, the invaders of the borderlands. The Leons of Minervam were said to still hold royal blood and could have stake in the country's royal throne, hence why their existence had been eradicated in the early days of the nation's establishment. But now, it was Sundara's only chance to reclaim his throne. With a team of trackers, runners, mages, and a Devic, he found the Sphnix's Nest, a solitary mountainous plateau that stood as an island in the middle of a valley, high above the rest of the terrain. It was only accessible by flight or a thin bridge which was protected by a Sphinx guard. The Sphinx guard asked riddles and Sundara, answered correctly, though with the wrong reasoning. Still they had to let him through. So into the ancient world he went, past the magical barriers. There he found the small clan of Leons living amongst the wise Sphinxes. He found one problem in his discovery. The only heir remaining was a large male Leon, at the peak of its prime. Regardless of the fact, he had to deal with the consequences. He needed the Leon. It took him a full month to convince the Leon to come with him. And it was cutting it close to his ceremony date, which was the last chance to counter the slander. With utmost haste, he arrived, just in time to cut off the Priest and claim his rights again. He reveals Munajit as his Consort, and the court is silenced with shock. Again he had trumped the Court's will. And they were furious. He was crowned in silence. The next few days were strenuous at best, with assassins and danger around every corner trying to kill Munajit. Sundara tries his best to protect him, but Munajit doesn't want to be trapped in a tiny room on his own all day, so he ends up breaking out frequently. Then one day, Munajit is captured and almost killed when Sundara manages to find him and kill the assassins. Sundara's beyond angry, at Munajit, but more at his Court. Having had enough, he challenges each and every court member to a duel in the Dome. The Dome is a sacred place where conflict is doled out with violence and fighting. Whatever happens in the Dome is the will of the gods. So Sundara meets Doram, his uncle, the most troublesome of the court in the Dome. He kills him. And the next, and the next. Until the others know not to mess, and submit to him. Finally he has peace in his court, however superficial it may be, but it damaged his relationship with Munajit who did not approve of his methods. Munajit decides to return to his home, saying it's not his place to stay. So Sundara is left behind to fix the giant problem of his runaway 'bride', mostly hiding the fact that his Consort left him. Which is when Fauba attacks the borders of Minervam, sending the two countries into a bloody war of destruction. There isn't enough time to fix everything with Munajit, but Sundara sends his advisor to go get Munajit back, while he fights. One of the battles leaves him badly injured, and also causes a miscarriage. Sundara had no idea he was pregnant, having thought so deeply he was not female. And once it happened, he had no way of stopping the gossip and his throne was on the rocks once more. He struggles to keep his cool, and he's losing battles, having been exhausted by the prior fights. It's a tough time, one he cannot go through on his own. Yet he does. Then word gets to Munajit about Sundara's state and he's convinced to return. He finally does, but it's too late. Sundara already signed a treaty that would end the bloodshed, in exchange for him joining the King of Fauba's harem... as a woman. Something that is incredibly uncomfortable for him, but necessary for the sake of his kingdom. He was going to lose his crown anyways after the war. He would give the crown to Munajit. Munajit returns and tries to get Sundara to reconsider, but there's no choice. So Munajit has to make political moves to convince Laila, Sundara's previous fiance to take the position instead. It's was a difficult conversation but Laila agrees. Sundara remains King. yay. |
